The IGAD Teacher Training Initiative (TTI) Launch
The IGAD Teacher Training Initiative (TTI) was launched in August 2021 with support from GIZ, in order to improve the quality of secondary education in displacement settings. The intervention provides teachers in Ethiopia, Sudan and Uganda with the necessary skills and knowledge to better address specific student needs. So far, 755 secondary school teachers, 267 of which are female, have been trained in four modules on pedagogical, sociopsychological, life skills/communication, and digital content.
Their improved qualifications benefited more than 12,400 students in refugee camps and host communities. To sustain the learnings of the teachers, two additional modules on student assessments and school leadership have been developed.
